The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. As such, NHS chapters and students are in schools that care not only about student achievement, but also community engagement.

Membership Dues

Dues are $20 annually for current members and $40 for new members. Dues must be paid by September 13th, 2023.

Service Hours

5 service hours are required per semester and must be turned in via google classroom.
Meetings

 Meetings will be held in Room 909 on the third Wednesday of each month. Members can attend the 7:55 or 3:35 meeting. 

Meeting attendance is mandatory. Students are allowed 1 unexcused absence per semester.

VRHS Chapter Selection Criteria

  • SOPHOMORES who have earned an overall GPA of 3.75 will receive a personalized invitation to apply in August.

  • JUNIORS and SENIORS may apply in August if he/she has an overall GPA of 3.75, to apply, please contact Mrs. Aderhold (Room 909).

 

  • All application materials are due by Monday, August 28, 2023.

 

  • Applicants are inducted once per year in October.
