Mr. McCarty is from Griffin, Georgia where he graduated from Lamar County High School. He attended Gordon State College in Barnesville, Georgia before moving to Carrollton where he graduated from the University of West Georgia. He earned both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Secondary Education. Mr. McCarty taught a variety of Social Studies subjects at both Spalding High School and Central High School before becoming an administrator at Villa Rica High School in 2023.
