 Saturday School Info

Saturday School will have its first session Saturday, September 11th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in Room 312.  All students must be signed in by 10:00 and if they are staying for the entire time, they must have a ride here to pick them up at 12:00.  Teachers, if you have any questions about why you would assign a student to Saturday School or how you would assign a student to Saturday School, check out the FAQs below.  You will also be able to find the Saturday School contract below which includes guidelines and dates.

Zach Flowers
Kicking off his country music career in his hometown of Villa Rica on 9/11/2010! 

Villa Rica high graduate of 2008 Zach Flowers signed a country music deal a few months ago, and will be going on the Seal Of Honor Tour across the United States honoring Lt Michael P. Murphy, a Medal of Honor winning Navy Seal who was killed in Afghanistan trying to heroically save his seal team. You can read his story at www.sealofhonor.com

 

He is also starting a country music video for CMT about his song One Lone Survivor honoring Lt Michael Murphy. There is also a movie in the making based on the book that will feature Zach’s song as the title track for the movie. There is a Navy Destroyer ship being built now in Lt Murphy’s name, Zach will do this song at the ships commissioning next May in New York.

 

Carroll County has a rising country star! You can see Zach perform his brand new song Out In The Country for the first time in concert on September 11th 2010 at the Villa Rica Gold Rush. He will be competing in The Battle Of The Bands at the brand new amphitheater The Mill, in Villa Rica.

 

If you want to be the first to get an autograph from this rising star, be at the show… He needs your votes to win the Battle Of The Bands. Admission is free, votes cost one dollar.  Come on Carroll County!!!  Let’s make the world know who we are!!! It all starts Sept. 11th in Villa Rica. Tell everybody you know.

 Benoskie Named VRHS Teacher of the Month



Congratulations to Ms. Jennifer Benoskie, who was named VRHS Teacher of the Month.  This is Ms. Benoskie's fourth year at VRHS and she currently teaches Eleventh Grade Literature, Communications Skills, and World Literature.  She is a 2007 graduate of Kennesaw State University and she will be graduating from the University of West Georgia with her Master's Degree in Reading in 2011.  When asked about what she enjoys most about teaching, she said that she enjoys motivating students to do their best work and then watching their faces as they succeed.  Although the administration of VRHS chose Ms. Benoskie as the first Teacher of the Month for the 2010 - 2011 school year, she will have the honor of choosing our next one from a different department.  Congratulations, Ms. Benoskie!!!

 Palmer Named VRHS Teacher of the Year



Congratulations to Mr. Charles Palmer, who was named Villa Rica High School’s 2011 – 2012 Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Palmer has been teaching for 25 years, with this year being his fifth year at VRHS.  He began his teaching career at Wills High School in Cobb County before moving on to Douglas County High School where he spent 20 award-winning years before beginning his life at VRHS, where for the past four years he has taught Economics with excellent results.  Born in Douglasville...
