
VRHS Wildcat senior thrower Patrice Gates signs to continue her track and field career with the University of Louisville. While at VRHS, Gates was the State Champion in the discus her freshman year, the discus and shot put her sophomore year, and the shot put her junior year. During her senior year, she won the National Scholastic Indoor Championships in the shot put in March and she qualified for the state meet in the shot put by winning the Region 5-AAAA Girls Championship in the shot put while also meeting the National Silver Standard.
