Vive la France!!

The Franco-American Exchange is in its third cycle, meaning that VRHS students have visited Lycée Pierre Mendès-France three times.  This academic year, we will host the teachers and students from Epinal, France for two weeks in the spring of 2010. This past May and June, Mrs. Miller and the following students had a wonderful time exploring both the well-known sites and monuments of Paris, as well as learning about the wide range of lesser known, but equally important, sites in Alsace and Lorraine. We are grateful to our school, community and families for their support of this wonderful learning opportunity.

 AP Language Meets Pakistan
AP Language had the opportunity to cross cultural lines today and hear a presentation from Sadia, our foreign exchange student from Pakistan. She spoke of her worries and fears from her and her family about her coming to America, the differences in the predominant faiths of both nations (Muslim and Christianity), and the unique and beautiful characteristics of her native Pakistan. Mrs. Miller and AP Language are grateful to her for her unique knowledge and the understanding that she brings to our current topic of study, the perception of American culture around the world and the role women play in that perception. Thank you so much, Sadia.
